When Samuel Berger asked me if I wanted a subscription to the The Joy of React course by Joshua Comeau, I had mixed feelings about it.
I'm always happy to learn something new, and the other courses on that platform had amazing reviews. But I thought I already had a deep knowledge of React and JavaScript in general. "Is he telling me that I'm not good enough?" β such thoughts of doubt populated my mind.
My decision was: "Ok, let's give it a try. It's probably going to be a bit of a waste of my time, but I'll prove to myself that I'm already a guru."
Well, shortly after starting the course, even in the beginners' section, I was learning new details and behind-the-scenes mechanisms that enriched my knowledge and made me realize I wasn't the guru I thought I was.
Josh has a fantastic way of explaining how things work β even the most complex topics β in a manner that perfectly matches the way I learn and remember concepts. He dives deep into the topics, going to the root of why code is written in a certain way.
I completed the course a few weeks ago.
It wasn't easy to pair it with my family duties, side projects, and work. The course has an incredible amount of gems spread across its sections, and I would recommend it to any developer, from the newbie to the guru.
I can't thank Sam and ICFM AG enough for the opportunity to improve my professional skills. I truly appreciate it.
Ask your boss or team lead to sponsor a course for you; it's a win-win combination. πΌπ Not only did I learn React in much more depth, but I also learned how beautiful learning can be.
It's better to stay humble rather than claim to be a guru. π
Disclaimer: I swear I am not getting paid to sponsor this course. I genuinely liked it and wanted to share my experience!
